40 post-breeding Lapwings had assembled in the fields around Golcar Farm where Curlews and Snipe are protecting juveniles. Most Meadow Pipits appeared to be carrying food and a male Yellowhammer was singing at Sconce.

Sconce Lane Area produced a male Yellowhammer! The bird was seen as it perched in one of the few trees between the fairways, it then flew off into the bracken. Also noted were 8 pairs of Meadow Pipits, 3 singing Reed Buntings, 2 pairs of Linnets, 6 singing Willow Warblers and a pair of Curlew with a juvenile. A Green Woodpecker was also seen near the scout camp and the pair near Brackenhall were still feeding young birds this morning. There's probably four pairs of Green Woodpecker in the Baildon Moor area

A Golden Oriole was heard singing and calling at the Silsden side of Low Wood from the tow-path. It was seen briefly in the morning but was also heard later in the day.
News has only got out today but there has been no sign, but it could be still present.

Of the 50 or more species recorded, three Siskins at Stainburn and at least half a dozen pairs of Tree Pipits got us off to a good start. There were pairs of Redshanks at Scargill and John o' Gaunt's, a pair of Little Grebes on the former reservoir and up to eight pairs of Tufted Ducks in the region. A couple of female Wheatears, five male and one female Redstart, and three singing Sedge Warblers at John o' Gaunt's were the highlights, surpassed only by a male Pied Flycatcher in Swinsty Woods where boxes have recently erected.

30 or so Fieldfare continue their stay in the fields by Golcar Farm.
Grey Partridge was flushed near the Golf Course and well established pairs of Oystercatchers, Snipe and Curlew as well as about 15 pairs of Lapwing were very active. 11 Willow Warblers were heard on the walk around the area, the sound of Skylarks filled the air and an attractive pair of Reed Buntings were by the path to Birch Close and a solitary Swallow passed by. About ten days ago a female Yellowhammer by Crook Farm

Very much a spring feel to the morning with six Skylarks breaking into song over Baildon Moor and the Golf Course. A couple of Chiffchaffs were present at Sconce by the Scout Hut, a pair of Red-legged Partridges, a hunting Kestrel and a Little Owl sitting in the sun were prominent. At Glovershaw, three pairs of Snipe, three pairs of Curlew, 15 pairs of Lapwing and the first Wheatear (male) of the spring. A couple of Roe Deer and a pair of Hares completed the list.

About 15 pairs of lapwing have taken up residence around Golcar Farm,
three pairs of Curlew were active together with a pair of Snipe and an Oystercatcher. Four Skylarks were in full song, Meadow Pipits displaying and a Reed Bunting flew by.

A few Skylarks heard over Middleton Moor – plus more curlews, lapwing, and grouse.

Shipley Glen
Male Lesser Spotted Woodpecker was drumming on a horse chestnut tree along the Higher Coach Road. It was making a call similar to a Green Woodpecker. Five pairs of Jay were disputing territory and making lots of noise as they flew constantly across the Glen. A pair of Grey Wagtails on the Glen Beck, a pair of Coal Tit, three calling/singing Nuthatch, a Treecreeper, a pair of nesting Mistle Thrush, a pair of GSW and a Green Woodpecker made up the pick of the birds.

Tufted duck, Wigeon, Pochard. 2 Red Kite over and 20 Lapwing
in sheep field

A flock of 12 Redpoll were feeding on alders and four Great Spotted Woodpeckers were chasing and disputing territory. Two pairs of Nuthatch were prominent and eight Jays (in four pairs) were visible whilst a Song Thrush was singing. A male Lesser Spotted Woodpecker was watched on the High Coach Road, at the bottom of the Glen. It flew into a large bush and started drumming and calling ( a call that resembled a muted Green Woodpecker). The bird then departed towards Hirst Wood and on the way back the call of an adult Green Woodpecker could be heard across the Glen
