Visible Migration Log 01-01-2010
Despite the seasonal dearth, visits and counts have continued. Until the vis season gets going again do keep visiting:
http://vismig.blogspot.com/
to keep up with what little is in the sky. It wont be long now until the pinks are flooding through again, oystercatchers are coming back inland and spring skylarks are going over.... if the cold continues and gets worse then there may even be more before that!
HAPPY NEW YEAR to ALL from the Oxenhope Vis Team.

Glovershaw
A beautiful autumn day and a walk through soggy leaves and squelchy fields. Eight Grey Partridges, nine Lapwings and 20 Common Gulls were feeding in the fields by Golcar Farm. Three Stock Doves flew by, a Kestrel patrolled along the edge of Baildon Moor and there was still evidence of Meadow Pipits and a Reed Bunting on the rough ground.

Glovershaw
On a pleasant, warm afternoon, five Stonechats were noted. Three were along the Glen Road and two more in the fields by Golcar Farm. Although rather quiet, there was a good flock of over 200 Starlings and 55 Common Gulls feeding and evidence of Meadow Pipit, Reed Bunting, Pied Wagtail, Goldfinch and Redwing.
