After yesterday's heavy rain and strong wind, it was calm and bright this morning and ideal conditions. Five Wheatears were on the walls around Birch Close Lane and a Whitethroat was seen along the Glen Road. A large flock of over 50, mainly juvenile Goldfinch fed on the thistles at Birch Close and smaller numbers were seen at Golcar along with young Willow Warblers, Chaffinch and Greenfinch. Young and adult Meadow Pipits were very active. Six Cormorants flew over, a young Kestrel hunted and a post-breeding flock of 50 Starling roamed the meadows.
Later 2pm
At Golcar Farm, 3 Spotted Flycatcher on the track to Dick Hudson's.
