John Marsden

It is sad to report that John Marsden died yesterday after a long illness.

John has been involved in BOG activities since the late 1980s and has helped on many BOG projects. Local birding has lost a real wildlife enthusiast and a thoroughly nice man - thanks John from everyone involved in the group.

Our thoughts are with his family

Yorkshire Dales Upland Bird Study Group

The species review of the Yorkshire Dales Upland Bird Study Group for 1992-2004 is now on sale.

Price is £3 plus 55p p+p. Colin Straker will be selling them at the November BOG meeting.

This report includes data that has been collected and collated by group member and other conservation organisations since 1992 and is intended to provide an assesment of the recent and current status of a number of key upland species within the Yorkshire Dales Upland Bird Study Group area. This area covers the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the Nidderdale AONB - hence most of the BOG area from the river Wharfe Northwards is included. The BOG archive records were invaluable towards this publication so a big thank you to all who have submitted records over the years and also to the BOG committee for allowing the use of their data.

Further copies can be obtained from Colin Straker, 13 Piece Fields, Threshfield, Skipton, N Yorks, BD23 5HR. Please make cheques payable to the Yorkshire Dales Upland Bird Study Group.
