150 Starlings. Snipe could be heard, Oystercatcher, Curlew .
A 'charm' of 25 to30 Goldfinches were by Golcar Farm.
A Kestrel was hunting along GlenRoad

Kestrels, Red Legged Partridge, Redshank, 2 Oystercatchers
Lots of vocal Curlews together with Lapwings and Meadow Pipits on the Moors. There also seemed to be a lot of Skylarks around – more than previous weekends. Only 1 Grouse seen.
River still pretty high - 2 Grey Wagtails seen on the River Wharfe near the Old Bridge

Wharfe Valley - Hobby

Ilkley, Middleton Lodge, Round Hill, Beamsley Beacon & back
Kingfisher sitting on a rock close to the Old Bridge in Ilkley
Golden Plover seen close to Round Hill and another heard.
A further Golden Plover heard at Old Pike. Kestrel at Beamsley Beacon.
On the moors were plenty of meadow pipits, a few skylarks,
lots of very vocal curlew, a few lapwing some with young,
swallows, swifts. But only saw 2 grouse all day.

Ilkley along to Ben Rhydding, over Denton Bridge, up Carters Lane to Middleton, along Hunger Hill, across Middleton Moor and Langbar Moor to Old Pike, Beamsley Beacon and then back via Wards Cottage across the moor and down into Ilkley along the river.

Highlights were:
4 Grey Heron and a Kestrel seen in fields next to Carters Lane.
2 Golden Plover heard but not seen on the way up to Old Pike and another heard as walked along to Beamsley Beacon
3 Grey Heron flew over near Beamsley, Kestrel at Beamsley Beacon
Lots of curlew, lapwing – some with chicks, meadow pipits, skylarks, swallows, martins, swifts - around the moors. Large numbers of starlings about – at one point there must have been a flock in excess of 1000. Did not see a single grouse all day.
Kingfisher and Little Grebe on river.
