Dipper and group of 6 Goosander just upstream from the Old Bridge
Kestrel and large group (about 60+) of Starlings on power lines
4 Stonechat, 14 Grouse, Meadow pipits, Swallow, Swifts,
plus a few Curlew and Martins, Buzzard heard and then seen
2 Grey Wagtails just upstream from Old Bridge

5 Wheatears briefly at Whetstone Gate moving west-east along the wall this morning, at least 3 appeared to be juveniles. c12 Linnets along the roadside feeding on the old salt piles, also plenty of mipits

79 Canada Geese, 14 Greylags, Cormorant flew over
and a Chiffchaff could be heard.

Beecroft plantation
flock of 28 Long-tailed Tits pass through and a
family flock of six Chiffchaff.

Lindley Wood Reservoir
two young Buzzards attracted out attention, their agitation caused by a passing Peregrine. On the water were 13 Greylags and 21 Canada Geese and the pair of Great Crested Grebes, that had attempted to bred appeared to be without any off-spring. Further along the valley, towards Dob Park, a flock of 25 Siskin flew from trees, a Blackcap was in song and so were four Chiffchaffs.

Folly Hall Wood
Spotted Flycatcher was seen carrying food, two adult Grey Wagtails accompanied a juvenile on the river and four Siskin flew from the wood where three Treecreepers were seen. Three Common Gulls were later seen flying up the valley.

Siskin, Sand Martin, Swift, Swallow, House Martin

Ilkley, Middleton Moor, Round Hill, Beamsley Beacon & back
Dipper and Grey Wagtail on River Wharfe.
Middleton Lodge with lots of small bird activity - blue tit, great tit, long tailed tit, chaffinch, robin, blackbird, thrush, and treecreeper.
Plenty of meadow pipits and wrens on the moor plus a few curlew, swallows and swifts.
Golden Plover between Round Hill and Old Pike – just the one seen and heard.
Red Kite seen at 14:10. 2 Snipe flushed out while going through two boggy stretches of the path back over the moor. No sight or sound of grouse or skylark

Wilsden
totally Swiftless skies and apart from the House Martins over the colony very little of anything up there at all. Four Black-headed Gulls went high > NW as did two Lesser Black-backed Gulls. A Sparrowhawk was seen on a couple of occasions on the lookout for a catch. A single Pied Wagtail and Greenfinch flew west.

Stockbridge -
singing Sedge Warbler, Whitethroat, Blackcap (also female on feeder),
3 juv Kestrels in riverside trees.

Low Wood -
singing Chiffchaff, Blackcap. Also seen, juv Nuthatch,
Treecreeper (Spotted Flycatcher not located).

East Riddlesden Hall
40+House Martins joined together to see of Sparrowhawk
and then a passing Peregrine

There have been a small number of Hobby sightings in the last couple of weeks between Otley and Askwith

walk to Upper Barden Reservoir
1 female whinchat with food, clearly with nest close to track
also male 300m away (one of second pair?)
Lot of stonechat activity: 2 pairs, including one pair carrying food,
plus 2 separate males; also 3 juveniles
1 common sandpiper on wall at NE corner of Lower Reservoir
Reasonable numbers of meadow pipits with 34 close to track;
includes one carrying food and 1 family party
9 wrens, mostly heard
only 1 red grouse seen on walk up to Upper Reservoir
1 little owl perched on wall near view point - it overbalanced when it had to duck to avoid low-flying swallow
