Shipley Glen and Hirst Wood
16 Grey Herons in three groups at various well-used roosting spots, a Dipper at Hirstwood Weir and over 65 Pied Wagtails at Dowley Gap Sewage Works. In between there was little of great interest except four Goosander on the river, a pair of Bullfinch and it was interesting to see that most other species were 'pairing-up' including Jay, Nuthatch, GSW, Mistle Thrush and Song Thrush

Wintering Chiffchaff singing next to aquaduct, 83 Pied wag counted, plus about 20 more, too mobile to count, 5 Grey wag, 3 G.S.W.peckers drumming in wood.

Oxenhope Between 12.10pm and 12.35pm,
circa 2500 Pink-footed Geese passed WNW, in 16 skeins,
largest being circa 400 birds

2 skeins Pink-footed Geese flew N/W over West Bowling total 350+

82 Pink-footed Geese flew over from east to north-west

150 BH gulls, common gull, cormorant, 27 lapwing, 24 greylag,
36 Canada geese, c.70 fieldfare overhead NW.

Oxenhope Moor (edge of area) -
c 300 Pink-footed geese moving NW

Stockbridge - 33 species this morning including -
3 Redpoll, GSW, 2 Oystercatchers mating, a few Siskin,
Kestrel (male) and Sparrowhawk.

At about 13.45 a skein of geese passed over Fewston Res. Birds totalled
about 100 and formation as Pinkfoot going west

13 Grey herons roosting at various spots in the Glen and a Dipper on the river at Hirstwood Weir. The Dipper flew up the beck towards where the proposed breeding site is. There were 65+ Pied Wagtails at Dowley Gap

1 Chiffchaff still round filter beds, 14 Grey Wag (best count this winter), 60+ Pied Wag, 3 Meadow Pipit, 4 Mistle Thrush, singing Song Thrush, Sparrowhawk still making regular unsuccessful attacks over sewage works. 1 Dipper below Hirst Mill Weir. Several Nuthatch in woods.

Sparrowhawk still making regular unsuccessful attacks but managed to grab a few feathers off one of 2 Mistle Thrush. Kestrel also trying its luck for a bird. 5 Lapwing feeding in field next to crossover bridge. Several G.S.Woodpeckers drumming and showing in woods. 4 Goosander on river.

1 Chiffchaff feeding on filter beds, under Blackthorn bush, plenty Meadow pipits, Pied Wag and 7 Grey Wag kept on the move by a Sparrowhawk, all the times I was there. 2 Dipper down bellow Hirst Mill weir, 3 Little Grebe and 5 Tufted Duck down stream of tin bridge towards Roberts Park

Dowley Gap this morning where there was lots of activity. 50+ Pied Wagtails with about for four Grey Wagtails and 20 or so Meadow Pipits. There were 12 Redwing feeding on the filter beds and 200 Black-headed Gull sitting within the works. Two Great Spotted Woodpeckers, two Jay and a Nuthatch in the adjoining woodland, a Goosander on the river and three Herons in the nearby fields
