Linnets at Hare Hills, Chaffinch- several in the Pine Wood, a pair of Stonechats on Scotland Hill, Peregrine over Keighley Moor Reservoir, 3 Goldeneye and 6 Mallard on the water, Oystercatcher heard, at least 15 Golden Plover spread out over the high moor tops, c60 total Red Grouse seen throughout now in pairs, several Wrens in the heather.

Ilkley Moor 1130 - 1445hr
Again very few birds seen. Wrens were singing from the bracken in the shelter of the Backstone Beck valley. Siskins were heard overflying, Coal Tits and several Chaffinches were in the plantation above the Cow and Calf Rocks and at least six Red Grouse were flushed from near the footpath at the edge of Burley Moor. Another Wren was in the Hangingstone Quarry basin.

Shipley Glen area
Two Dippers on the stream that leaves Shipley Glen and flows into the Aire at Hirstwood. There was a large number, 23, of Mistle Thrushes in the field at the bottom of the Glen. They were with a small number of Redwings. 6 Reed Buntings at Dowley Gap Sewage Works and along the river a pair of Goosander and two Stock Doves by the Rowing Club.

Timble, Swinsty and John o'Gaunts.
Red Kite went over the main path, and a pair of Kestrels were
hunting over the mooredge. A flock of 16 Crossbills were seen
just beyond the pools. At Swinsty a flock of 100 Fieldfare was
moving through. As we approached John o' Gaunts Reservoir
a pair of Stonechats were seen. On the water there wasn't much,
but for a Goldeneye, four Tufted Duck, two Teal and a Pochard.
Green Woodpecker was calling and a flock of 11 Goldfinch went by.
In the fields four Curlews landed and a large number of Starlings

Ilkley, River Wharfe and Middleton Lodge onto the moors to Round Hill and back.
Woodpecker (heard) and 2 Buzzards took flight from woods behind Middleton Lodge about 10:30am. 3 skeins of geese (possibly pink footed – but not certain) flew over Ilkley from East to West – about 100 at 10:50am, 60+ at 11:05am and then a further 25+ shortly after.
On the moors a huge flock of birds took to the skies made up of lapwing, golden plover, starlings and gulls – eventually separated out to about 100+ golden plover and 100+ lapwing
Red Kite as approached the top of Round Hill about 12:00. Male Stonechat on wall at top of Round Hill. Dipper on River Wharfe. Male and Female Mandarin ducks seem to have made the Riverside Hotel area of Wharfe their permanent home!
