Early birds in song included a 'trilling' Nuthatch, three drumming Great Spotted Woodpeckers and seven Grey Herons roosting at Milnerfields - otherwise very quiet.

River Aire, Bingley -
7 Goosanders. Where the current slowed down, the river is showing signs of freezing.
St Ives -
30 Redpoll flock feeding on Alder near Racecourse Plantation. GSW, Jay, a few Fieldfare, Sparrowhawk, Redwing & 2 Nuthatch, one at the feeding station with also 5 Robins (& no fighting). GSW seen was pulling oak galls off the tree and flying to a branch to open each one up. This went on for some time. Presumably inside will be Gall Wasp larvae/ grubs.
