Shipley Glen & Hirst Wood
In the Glen I heard four calling/singing Nuthatches and two pairs of GSW were vocal and active. A Green Woodpecker was feeding in the field at the bottom of the Glen along with a pair of Jays, some Redwing were present in small numbers feeding amongst the leaves and under the bushes. At Dowley Gap a pair of Kingfishers were on the river beneath the 7 arches and a Chiffchaff was in song close to a small group of Redwing. About 50 PiedWagtails were flushed by a passing Sparrowhawk on the Sewage Works, and some Meadow Pipits were also disturbed. In Hirst Woods, three Nuthatches were very vocal and a pair of GSW were watched. Three GreyWagtails were seen on the beck which flows out of the Glen and a pair of Bullfinch were visiting the garden feeder.
