Glovershaw
A glorious morning for birding and Glovershaw was at its best. A pair of Red Grouse sailed off into the mist whilst Snipe were belting round or calling from fence posts.  A flock of 50 Golden Plovers occupied the damp fields near Golcar Farm and Lapwing protected their territory from marauding crows.  Five Wheatears, three males and two females, rested in the sun at Birch Close Lane, Skylarks and Meadow Pipits were everywhere and the evocative call of Curlews drifted across the moorland.
