Shipley Glen
A flock of 12 Redpoll were feeding on alders and four Great Spotted Woodpeckers were chasing and disputing territory. Two pairs of Nuthatch were prominent and eight Jays (in four pairs) were visible whilst a Song Thrush was singing. A male Lesser Spotted Woodpecker was watched on the High Coach Road, at the bottom of the Glen. It flew into a large bush and started drumming and calling ( a call that resembled a muted Green Woodpecker). The bird then departed towards Hirst Wood and on the way back the call of an adult Green Woodpecker could be heard across the Glen
